Read our intervention here in the session on 'The critical roles of civil society and local actors in building partnerships for prevention' during the Second United Nations High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism. We emphasized the critical need to rethink security and of allying the array of political, economic, social, justice, and security tools needed to address violence, and reverse the social condition that leads to this violence, with (in academic Mary Kaldor’s words) ‘civicness’.
